A good plot but not as good as the first book. The plot built up well but the ending felt flat. The characters, although developing well felt that they should have been a bit more aware of some of the others and questioned their actions a bit more.
When a member of her aunt's comes to her for advice, she is unsure what to say. Apparently the young woman had received a sum through the post, had already used the money and destroyed the packaging. However she is now worried about future come back on her. Another note arrives asking her to meet a man at a hotel. She and Watson (who is smitten by the new client) accompany the young woman to a meeting where she finds out that a group of them (including the father that abandoned her as a child) had had a system and all their casino money had been hidden. Add in a death, a thief, a tarred roof, a sniper dog, a chase by boat and çhase on foot. Will they retrieving share the money? Will the thief be caught?
I think Phyllis Humphrey is a good writer...
Another awesome book! Great pacing, characters and most importantly to me, true to the spirit of Sherlock Holmes. Cannot wait for more!
